The system of the International Office at the University of Mannheim is actually pretty nasty: if you have been offered an exchange place at a foreign university, you receive an email. This e-mail tells you that you have been allocated a place, but not where - you are only informed by letter. So from now on, you open your letterbox every day with increased excitement…

Fortunately, it didn’t take too long for me: after the university sent me the email last Wednesday, the letter arrived in the post on Thursday. I will be spending the coming winter semester in Copenhagen. 😊
